Lok Sabha election 2014 - Dakshina Kannada.

I am from the coastal part of Karnataka called by several names such as Mangalore(English) or Mangalooru(Kannada) or Kodial(Konkani) or Kudla(Tulu) or Mangalapuram(Malayalam) or Maikala(Byari). It is such as diverse place with so many languages such as Tulu, Kannada, Konkani, Byari, Malayalam, Hindi and English. Also home to diverse culture with various religions co-existing in this modern era. This city is in Dakshina Kannada or South Canara district of Karnataka, known for its education hub, beaches, fish foods and traditions.

Elections have been always very interesting here. There is a strong fight between Congress and BJP. But keeping political parties aside, if we look at the enthusiasm among voters to vote for their candidate has always been amazing ! I find it the same with the students who excel in their studies since this district is always one step ahead of others when it comes to studies compared to others in the state.

The overall percentage of voting may be low in Karnataka but Dakshina Kannada seems to be ahead of other districts this time again. I always thought Bangalore would do better in terms of voting, at least this time but again, the educated modern citizens just let that spirit down. It is not surprising that they always stay behind when it comes to decide their leader but start criticizing or alleging a party or leaders when they do not get their work done on time ! They are bothered about their house and their personal benefits but won't go and vote ! Why this kind of negligence even after educating for so many years ? Intended negligence or what should it be called otherwise ? I have no idea !

But in my district looking at the statistics, I feel great since there is average of 76% turnout !

The percentages across the constituencies are as follows:
Belthangady - 76.55 percent
Moodbidri - 74.75 percent
Mangalore North - 70.08 percent
Mangalore South - 70.02 percent
Mangalore(Ullal) - 74.32 percent
Bantwal - 74.76 percent
Puttur - 80.36 percent
Sullia - 83.50 percent

Youngsters, elders, physically challenged, priests, sadhus all have come early in the morning to decide the future of their candidate as well as whom they want to see as their next PM of this country ! Look at the below photos and see yourself, how these people come to vote and think for a moment about those who just shout in social media like Facebook, twitter, Youtube, news channels etc but do not turn out to vote when it is their duty to do so !

Just makes me feel bad when people come from abroad to vote their candidate but lazy citizens in India just take it for granted and celebrate it as a holiday or take it as normal day ! What is their excuse when these people go and vote ! Also the national parties struggle day and night campaigning across the nation by promising to deliver if they come to power. Lakhs of volunteers work hard to grab the attention of voters and create awareness among them to vote for the better India. Everything seems positive till the voting date and on the voting day all this hope will be turned down when people do not come and vote ! Because of this a wrong candidate might get elected which will be of no use to that constituency or the hopes of 125 Crore Indians !

Linkin Park - Radiance (A Thousand Suns) my view on reason behind the song and album name.

Linkin Park is my favorite nu-metal band. They started their career in 1998 with their first studio album Hybrid theory. Then they never looked back. Mike Shinoda is the man behind this band formation and now totally 6 members are working together for its awesomeness ! For more information about this band you can Google for it. I know about them everything and I am also member of LP Underground 12 since a year. So I will directly jump to my topic on the reason behind their 4th album title A Thousand Suns and the song name Radiance.

The song Radiance has voice of J. Robert Oppenheimer, where he quotes saying:
“We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried. Most people who were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture the Bhagavad Gita; Vishnu is kind of persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him, he takes on multi-armed form and says. ‘Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds’. I suppose we all thought that, one way or another.”
(Source: Wikipedia).

In this quote Oppenheimer mentions about Lord Vishnu showing his multi armed form called "Vishwaroopa" to Prince Arjuna to persuade him to fight against the evil brothers 'Kauravas' in Mahabharata. When Arjuna refuses to fight against Kauravas, Lord Krishna who is the Avatar of Lord Vishnu takes a tremendous form which the normal eyes could not see it. This brilliant form was huge as infinite cosmos ! With uncountable arms and faces and ornaments and other matters, that sight was amazing for Arjuna. This scenario is completely explained in Chapter 11 Verse 10-11 in Bhagavad Gita. In the next verse - 12, it explains the beauty of that universal form. The below shloka is in Sanskrit and its translation is given below that.

"divi surya-sahasrasya / bhaved yugapad utthita
yadi bhah sadrishi sa syad / bhasas tasya mahatmanah"

-- Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 11 Verse 10-11).

Translation:
"If 'A Thousand Suns' (= surya sahasrasya) rose all at once in the sky, such splendor might approach the effulgence of that Supreme Person in His radiant universal form."

This explains the visual beauty of that universal form. The ‘Radiance’ form was equal to Thousand Suns of this cosmos. So the name of the song ‘Radiance’ and the album name ‘A Thousand Suns’, both might have come from this analogy. This is what I think and I believe, rest is up to the reader.

This is my personal view and I do not want to hurt any fans.

The Supreme God - Lord Vishnu

Lord Vishnu, he is the Supreme God and Supreme soul. He can be called as power which created the universe and holds within itself. He has the power to create the universe, maintain it and destroy from time to time. So he is called the "Preserver of the Universe". There is nothing without him or can be called as "Shoonya". Reference to him are found in the first book of Vedas i.e Rig-Veda. He is also called "Nilameghashyama" for having a dark blue complexion. It represents state of consciousness, the infinite and the power. Also known as "Hari" mean the remover. Also known as "Narayana" meaning shelter to all the living beings across the universe. In Bhagavad-Gita, Vishnu showed his "Vishwaroopa" to Arjuna, which is beyond the imagination of ordinary man. The beauty and brightness of Vishwaroopa is defined as "If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst forth at once in the sky, that would be like the splendor of the mighty one !"

He has four hands with four unique things holding, each has its own special power to control the Universe !
One holds the "Conch shell" ( Shankha ) which spreads the unique powerful sound "Om" ( Aum : Sound of the Universe ), one holds the "Discus" ( Sudarshana Chakra in index finger : a lethal weapon against evil forces. ) which reminds the wheel or cycle of time, one holds the "Lotus" ( Padma ) which represents the beauty and existence of universe and fourth one holds the "Mace" ( Gada ) which indicates the power and capacity of Lord to punish if the discipline in our life is ignored !  The dark colored body represents the passive and formless ether.

The above picture is beautiful with Lord Vishnu resting on powerful, coiled serpent or Ananta, the great serpent of infinity, "Sheshanag" who represents the sleeping universe on cosmic waters, while Vishnu waits for the universe to create itself. It fascinates with its beauty and calmness.

This particular striking statue of Lord Vishnu is located in the Budhanilakantha Temple, built in 7th century, in Balaju, Nepal.
